SPINE Reveals Freeflow Gun Fu Combat in New Trailer, Confirms Nintendo Switch 2 Version

Nekki showed up at the inaugural Twitch Galaxies Showcase with guns blazing, debuting a fresh trailer for SPINE, its ultra-stylized, story-driven action game. The new gameplay footage highlights the game’s Freeflow Gun Fu combat system in all its cinematic glory — and announces that the game is now targeting Nintendo Switch 2, in addition to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Be the Star of Your Own Cyberpunk Action Flick

In SPINE, you play as Redline, a rebellious street artist armed with a sentient combat implant called Spine. Together, you take on the authoritarian AI regime of the Tensor Corporation, carving through enemies in brutal slow-motion takedowns that rival any John Wick shootout.

The newly revealed Freeflow Gun Fu system lets players:

  • Chain seamless combos while parrying and disarming enemies
  • Use the environment to crush, throw, or corner opponents
  • Pick up makeshift melee weapons mid-fight for dynamic takedowns
  • Trigger stylish camera angles that look like cutscenes, but never take control away from the player

“We want players to feel like both the star and the director of their own action movie,” says Game Director Dmitry Pimenov. “Every move in SPINE is about creative control and cinematic payoff.”

Hardcore Mode: Don’t Get Touched

The trailer also teased a brutal new twist: Hardcore Mode, where Redline’s iconic sunglasses will only remain intact if you make it through the entire game without taking a single hit. One mistake? You’re back to square one. Think no-hit runs, but with more flair and neon-soaked tension.

Features Recap – What Makes SPINE Pop:

  • Movie-Like Experience: A reactive combat camera captures every beat of your gun fu ballet. It looks like a movie, but you’re in control.
  • Innovative Combat System: Blend cinematic gunplay with beat-em-up brawling to create your own high-octane fight choreography.
  • Cyberpunk Atmosphere: Neon lights and decaying back alleys set the stage for rebellion in a world ruled by AI.
  • Narrative-Driven Journey: Play as Redline and her AI implant Spine in a gritty, personal story about trust, rebellion, and resistance.
  • Webtoon Tie-In: Explore the world before the game drops with Nekki’s SPINE: Bullet Dancers comic series.
