Dragon is Dead Launches 1.0 on June 6 with New Hero, Final Boss, and Mythic Loot

Dragon is Dead, the brutal 2D hack-and-slash action roguelite from TeamSuneat and PM Studios, officially hits version 1.0 on June 6, 2025. After more than a year of fine-tuning with community feedback in Early Access, the game rises from the ashes with a feral new heroine, mythic loot, and the epic final region and boss that brings its gothic fantasy saga to a bloody crescendo.

The update adds new systems, a terrifying Nightmare endgame, and some of the hardest fights and most rewarding gear seen yet. TL;DR: You’re gonna die. A lot. But that’s part of the fun.

What’s New in Dragon is Dead 1.0?

New Hero: Hunter of the Beast

A clawed-up feral fighter joins the roster. The Hunter tears through the battlefield with beastly speed and precision, adding a savage new playstyle to master.

Final Region & Boss

Venture into the domain of the Circle of the Black Dawn, a fanatical cult that seized the dragon Guernian’s heart after his death. The final act puts everything on the line as the twisted truth behind the dragon’s demise is finally revealed.

Mythic Gear & Quenching System

The new Mythic gear tier goes beyond Legendary, delivering game-changing effects that power up late-game builds. The new Item Quenching system also lets players customize gear further with new traits and enhancements.

Nightmare Mode x16

Think you’re done? Think again. Nightmare mode cranks the heat with 16 levels of escalating difficulty, introducing new enemy patterns and mechanics far beyond a numbers buff.

Built by a Small Team, Shaped by Players

PM Studios CEO Michael Yum calls Dragon is Dead “a raw, unfiltered, and gritty project built with heart.” With its snappy combat, chunky pixel art, and “just one more run” momentum, the game carved out a loyal following during its time in Early Access — and the full release is aimed at rewarding that loyalty.

If you’re craving the brutal finesse of Dead Cells, the crunchy gear of Diablo, and the dark fantasy edge of Blasphemous, Dragon is Dead might just be your next addiction.
