Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake Arrives October 30, Concludes the Erdrick Trilogy

To celebrate Dragon Quest Day, Square Enix has officially announced the release date for Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, the final chapter in the beloved Erdrick Trilogy. The remake will launch on October 30, 2025, on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store.

Following last year’s successful Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, this new release continues the story in chronological order, giving fans the chance to complete the legendary trilogy in the same lush, hand-crafted art style that’s become a hallmark of modern DQ remakes. Square Enix is also launching the Dragon Quest HD-2D Erdrick Trilogy Collection for newcomers, bundling all three games together in one digital package for $99.99.

A Legendary Legacy, Reimagined

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake brings the origins of the franchise to a new generation with revamped visuals, updated gameplay mechanics, and all-new story content designed to enrich the lore of the Erdrick saga. Players step into the shoes of Erdrick’s descendants, battling evil across a fantasy world still reeling from the events of DQ III.

The updated visuals blend pixel sprites with modern lighting and 3D effects, while quality-of-life improvements and a refined battle system modernize the experience without compromising the classic feel. Square Enix also promises major story additions and new in-game content, though details remain under wraps for now.

The Journey Ends This Fall
