Originally set to drop May 22, Fretless – The Wrath of Riffson will now launch later this summer on PC via Steam. Publisher Playdigious Originals and developer Ritual Studios shared the updated release window today, stating the delay allows the team more time to fine-tune the game and deliver the most rock-solid RPG experience possible.
Set in a zany, guitar-fueled universe, Fretless is a music-themed turn-based RPG where players take control of Rob, a hero on a mission to restore harmony to a world corrupted by the sinister Rick Riffson. As the tyrannical CEO of Super Metal Records, Riffson is stealing musicians’ souls through the Battle of the Bands—and it’s up to Rob and his ragtag group of rockers to fight back.
Music Meets Mayhem
In Fretless, you won’t just strum to the rhythm—you’ll shred your enemies. Players wield customizable guitars as weapons, chaining together riff-based abilities and unleashing powerful crescendo attacks in battles against monstrous instrument hybrids and corrupted musical beasts. Along the way, you’ll collect new techniques, befriend legendary creatures, and confront Riffson’s army of diabolical sound-warpers.
Try the Demo and Rock On
While you wait for the full release, a playable demo is available now on Steam, letting you sample the game’s stylish combat and bizarre musical world.
