Following the cult success of their open-world dark fantasy RPG Dread Delusion, developer Lovely Hellplace is once again teaming with indie horror publisher DreadXP to unleash Entropy. This new project embraces the retro 3D aesthetic of the studio’s earlier work while shifting from first-person combat to tactical turn-based RPG battles inspired by classic JRPGs. Players will command a party of up to six mercenaries as they fight to stave off a relentless demonic invasion threatening their already dying world.
A Dying World on the Brink of Damnation
Unlike stories of sudden apocalypse, the world of Entropy has simply withered away under the slow march of time and inexplicable infertility. Pockets of humanity remain, but they are plagued by accursed creatures and cruel tyrants. Settlements are squalid, desperate, and dangerous.
The story begins in the town of Draenog, where a thespian’s stage performance is interrupted by an assault at the gates. Armed with nothing more than a wooden prop sword, you and your troupe must fight to survive. From there, players embark on a grim journey across a sprawling world map, exploring towns, meeting strange characters, and pushing ever deeper toward hell itself.
Tactical Combat and Party Management
At the heart of Entropy lies its tactical combat system. Players can recruit, manage, and command a party of up to six adventurers, with mercenaries available to replace fallen members. Turn-based battles emphasize strategy, resource management, and the ability to adapt to grotesque new enemies. Leveling up characters unlocks new perks, stats, and abilities, allowing for multiple approaches to encounters.
The game’s blend of unsettling locales, disturbing creature design, and richly detailed environments carries forward Lovely Hellplace’s signature flair for atmosphere, while layering on the depth of party-based RPG combat.
