Aniplex and Akatsuki Games have announced that Hykw: Northern Light(s), their upcoming 2D top-down action RPG, will officially launch on September 18, 2025, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam. Priced at $27.99, the game will also support over 10 languages at launch.
Developed by Blast Edge Games and powered by vibrant pixel art, Hyke: Northern Light(s) follows the white-haired heroine Hyke as she journeys through a post-war world still haunted by the aftermath of a brutal conflict between witches and humans. The game combines pixel-rich exploration, witch-themed worldbuilding, and relaxing camp mechanics—think Octopath Traveler with a sprinkle of Don’t Starve’s coziness.
An Adventure Lit by Witches and Campfires
In Hyke: Northern Light(s), players venture through a world filled with mysterious territories called the Forbidden Areas. Along the way, they’ll meet powerful witches known as Meteos, explore environmental puzzles, and engage in stage-based combat while managing buffs and inventory at cozy campgrounds.
The game blends classic pixel visuals with modern gameplay features, such as character swapping, unique skills per party member, and camping systems where cooking meals prep you for the next mission. Each stage brings its own blend of danger and charm, with a diverse cast of witches leading the narrative.
