Once Upon A Katamari Announced for Switch, PS5, Xbox, and PC, Launching October 24

It’s been a long time coming, but the King of All Cosmos is finally back. Bandai Namco has announced Once Upon A Katamari, the first brand-new entry in the beloved Katamari Damacy series since 2011. The delightfully chaotic game will launch on October 24, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, with both Standard and Deluxe “King of All Sounds” Editions available.

Roll Through Time to Save the Universe (Again)

In Once Upon A Katamari, the King of All Cosmos has once again accidentally destroyed the Earth and stars—and it’s up to the Prince and his colorful cousins to fix it by rolling up everything in sight. This time, though, you’re not just cleaning up the present—you’ll be rolling across time, collecting objects from:

  • The Jurassic Period
  • The Ice Age
  • Feudal Japan
  • And more historically inspired stages

Players will use their Katamari to clean up each era and restore the sky, one oversized clump of junk at a time.

New Features: KatamariBall, Multiplayer, and More

While the series’ core gameplay remains intact, Once Upon A Katamari introduces several major upgrades:

  • A new KatamariBall mode, a competitive four-player match (online or offline) where players race to build the biggest ball and convert it into points.
  • The return of the Prince and 68 playable cousins, now customizable with colors, accessories, and facial expressions.
  • A magnet tool to help draw in nearby shiny items for easier rolling.
  • Revamped visuals and a fresh soundtrack while preserving the surreal charm and infectious energy the franchise is known for.

Additionally, players with save data from either Katamari Damacy REROLL or We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie can unlock a playable Young King at launch.

More details will roll out leading up to launch, but Once Upon A Katamari is already shaping up to be a joyful return to one of gaming’s weirdest, most beloved franchises.
