Talesworth Game Studio and publisher DreadXP have announced The Secret of Weepstone, a hand-drawn, black-and-white dungeon crawler inspired by the early days of Dungeons & Dragons. Launching in 2026 for PC, the game promises ominous dark-fantasy storytelling, dice-based combat, and a visual style pulled straight from the sketchbooks of classic TTRPG modules.
Set beneath the shadow of an abandoned keep, the once-bustling village of Weepstone has fallen to ruin. Crops rot in the fields, the people live in fear, and its lord lies bedridden — plagued by nightmares of unholy rituals. With no champions to call upon, the burden of survival falls to ordinary townsfolk willing (or desperate) enough to enter the crumbling walls and face the unknown.
Dungeon Crawling With Death in Mind
Unlike many heroic RPGs, The Secret of Weepstone leans into grim survival. Players command a party of up to eight — villagers, weary adventurers, even suspected heretics — and guide them through treacherous dungeons full of traps, monsters, and secrets.
The game blends dice rolls for combat and skill checks with strategic party building. Death is common, but not meaningless: each fallen character grants a “Mortal Favor,” a unique boon for future delves. The art direction, entirely in striking black-and-white linework, reinforces the game’s tabletop inspirations.

The Secret of Weepstone will be playable for the first time at PAX West 2025 from August 29 to September 1 at the DreadXP booth. Players attending can test their luck and see if the dice — and death — favor them.
