Swapmeat’s Final Global Playtest Kicks Off Sept. 4 Ahead of October Early Access

Independent developer One More Game has announced that Swapmeat, the bizarre co-op roguelite third-person shooter about stealing alien body parts to gain new powers, will hold its final global playtest from September 4–9, 2025. The playtest, dubbed Meat Lab 7, serves as the last chance for players to test the game’s chaotic meat-swapping action before its planned Early Access release in October 2025 on PC and macOS via Steam.

Dedicated “Meat Scientists” who have participated in any of the playtests, including this one, will unlock the exclusive Meat Scientist Cosmetic Set, a special bonus to show off their dedication to Rangus Meats’ research.

Meat Lab 7 Updates & Features

Swapmeat’s final playtest delivers a hefty helping of changes, new systems, and squishy mechanics for players to sink their teeth into:

  • Reworked Meta-Progression – 27 unlockable pieces to fine-tune weapons and upgrades.
  • New Respawn System – Respawn Beacons let players return in safer spots if conditions are met, adding strategic depth to survival.
  • Hunter Tweaks – Easier to deal with… until they get angry. Don’t poke the bear—or in this case, the alien meat monstrosity.
  • Multiplayer Revamp – Fresh respawn token rules balance tension and team survival.
  • Customization & QoL – Full input rebinding, improved UI localization (including LATAM languages), and a polished Solar System 2 environment.
  • Balancing & Fixes – General bug fixes and refinements across the board.

Players who refer three friends to join Meat Lab 7 are guaranteed squad access (while supplies last).

Meat, Guns, and Weird Science

At its core, Swapmeat is all about experimenting with the alien limbs you steal from your enemies. Every swap changes your abilities, letting players build wild, grotesque loadouts on the fly. Combined with roguelite structure and co-op chaos for up to four players, the result is a strange but satisfying recipe of carnage and comedy.

As the developers put it: “Every body part you swap brings Rangus Meats™ one step closer to a better tomorrow—or at least a weirder one.”
