Atomic Owl will launch on May 20 for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch for $12.99, with a 10% launch discount available at release.
Published by the team behind Mr. Sleepy Man and The Dark Queen of Mortholme, Atomic Owl is a synthwave pixel art hack-and-slash platformer built around roguelite progression and styled after the SNES era.
Console release adds new mode and improvements
The console version of Atomic Owl includes several additions and improvements, including a new No Roguelite Mode, enhanced audio, and user experience updates.
These changes arrive alongside the game’s broader console launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
A pixel art action platformer with roguelite progression
In Atomic Owl, players control Hidalgo Bladewing, an owl shinobi fighting through eight roguelite zones with the help of a talking sword companion.
The game features neo-Japanese environments, combat set to a 90s-inspired synthwave soundtrack, and a weapon system that lets players transform the Mezameta blade into a whip, greatsword, or hammer.
Players can also collect Wing Remnants from Tengu enemies to upgrade their abilities and unlock powers such as Void Crow and Spark Falcon.
