Clockfall Revealed as Time-Based Action RPG Roguelite with Early Access in 2026

Clockfall has been officially revealed by Rever Games and Radical Theory, introducing a hybrid action-RPG roguelite built around time-management and village-defense mechanics.

The game is currently planned to launch in Steam Early Access later in 2026, with a full release targeting PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2027.

A roguelite where time is your most valuable resource

In Clockfall, players are trapped in an infinite nightmare loop, exploring dangerous dungeons in an attempt to escape before time runs out.

The game’s core twist revolves around time as a limited resource. Every second spent exploring, fighting, or progressing counts against the player, forcing constant decisions between pushing deeper or pulling back.

Players can:

  • Spend resources to improve combat strength
  • Sacrifice progress to gain more time
  • Optimize movement and decision-making to survive longer runs

This system adds a layer of pressure to traditional roguelite gameplay, where survival depends as much on time management as combat skill.

Village defense adds a second layer of strategy

Beyond dungeon runs, Clockfall introduces a Village Defense phase that ties directly into progression.

Resources and upgrades collected during runs are used to defend a settlement from waves of enemies. Success in these encounters unlocks permanent upgrades, new abilities, and equipment that carry over into future runs.

This creates a dual gameplay loop that combines fast-paced dungeon crawling with strategic defense scenarios.

A story built around breaking a time loop

The game’s narrative centers on a village destroyed by forces known as Destiny, with a mystical clock forcing the protagonist to relive events in a repeating cycle.

Players must balance combat power and time efficiency to grow stronger, defend their home, and eventually break the loop.

Playtest available ahead of Early Access

An ongoing PC playtest is currently available, allowing players to get an early look at the game ahead of its Early Access launch.
