Echoes of Aincrad Reveals New Gameplay Trailer and Combat System

Echoes of Aincrad has received a new gameplay trailer, with Bandai Namco Entertainment America sharing a closer look at the game’s combat system and progression ahead of launch.

The new footage highlights real-time battles inside the floating castle of Aincrad, where players will build their character, upgrade equipment, and fight alongside a partner through the game’s Switch-based combat system.

New trailer details combat and progression

According to Bandai Namco, Echoes of Aincrad features real-time combat tied to classic RPG progression. As players advance through Aincrad’s floors, they will earn growth points that can be used to improve attributes such as stamina, strength, and dexterity.

Players will also be able to customize their build through different weapons, armor pieces, and Special Skills. The game also includes a smithy system, allowing players to enhance gear to take on stronger enemies.

Partner system and Switch combat highlighted

The trailer also gives more details on the game’s partner-based combat. In Echoes of Aincrad, players fight alongside a companion who responds to commands and brings their own unique Special Skill into battle.

Combat is built around the Switch system, which allows players to chain attacks and change roles during fights. Players can either let their partner act autonomously or hold them back for coordinated attacks that split damage and create new tactical options.
