Nextale has announced Calame, a single-player isometric tactical RPG coming to PC later this year, with a console release planned for 2027. A playable demo is available now on Steam ahead of the game’s Steam Next Fest appearance in June.
The reveal trailer gives players a first look at Westalia, the game’s world, story, and reality-shifting tactical combat.
A Rebellion Against the King of Light
Calame is set in Westalia, where belief and legend can physically reshape the world. Players lead an unstable rebellion against the tyrannical King of Light, balancing two rival factions with different goals.
On one hand, Kenmare fights for the people’s freedom. The other, the Panthers, seeks to reclaim the throne. Their alliance may keep the rebellion alive, but their visions for the future remain opposed.
Tactical Combat With Reality-Shifting Terrain
Calame uses handcrafted grid-based battles built around positioning, unit facing, class roles, and party synergies. Players can build squads from melee fighters, ranged units, mages, and support classes.
The game’s main twist is the Correction mechanic, which lets players alter the battlefield during combat. Terrain becomes part of the strategy, letting players reshape encounters rather than just react to them.
Choices Shape the Rebellion
Outside combat, Calame includes RPG leveling, skill unlocks, legendary gear, and a reactive choice system. Decisions made at camp and during story events affect the rebellion’s political alignment, faction relationships, squad traits, and story direction.
Calame is coming to PC in 2026 and consoles in 2027. The Steam demo is available now.
