Funcom has announced that Dune: Awakening will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22, 2026. Alongside the console release, the developer is introducing a major update that adds a complete single-player mode, new story content, gameplay improvements, and additional features across all platforms.
According to Funcom, the September release represents the definitive version of the Arrakis survival experience, combining a year of post-launch updates on PC with a new wave of content arriving for both console and PC players.
Full Single-Player Mode Added
One of the biggest additions is the introduction of a fully playable single-player mode.
Players can now experience the entire game alone, complete with scalable difficulty settings and extensive gameplay customization options. Harvesting rates, experience gain, combat difficulty, and other mechanics can all be adjusted to create a personalized experience.
Funcom also confirmed that the game’s cinematic storyline will be fully playable from beginning to end, including the grand finale of Book One, which arrives with the September update.
Console Features and Performance
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will feature the same core experience available on PC, with controls and interface elements redesigned for console play. Performance Mode targets 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Pre-orders are available now. The Standard Edition is priced at $49.99, while the Deluxe Edition ($69.99) and Ultimate Edition ($89.99) include head-start access and additional rewards.
Major Improvements Across the Board
New console players will also benefit from every major feature and improvement added to the PC version over the past year.
Among the most significant changes is the addition of optional PvP, allowing players to experience the entire game in PvE, including the Deep Desert and faction conflicts. The late-game progression loop has also been rebuilt with additional content and improved balance.
Other additions include vehicle backup systems, base reconstruction tools that help preserve progress during extended breaks, expanded story content, new map locations, character re-customization, tax removal, and numerous quality-of-life improvements.
PC players will also gain access to self-hosted servers without requiring third-party rentals.
More Content Planned After Launch
Funcom has already outlined plans for future updates beyond September.
Later this year, players will receive access to the Polar Cap, a new survival region located at Arrakis’ northern pole. The free update will introduce a frozen biome, new survival mechanics, additional challenges, and fresh content.
Xbox Game Pass and Cross-Progression Support
Dune: Awakening will launch on Xbox Game Pass on September 22 and support Xbox Play Anywhere functionality. Players will be able to share progress between Xbox consoles and the Microsoft Store version, and benefit from cross-play support.
The game will additionally support Xbox Cloud Gaming, the ROG Xbox Ally, GeForce NOW, and remain Steam Deck Verified.
