Kingdom Hearts IV & Switch 2 Collection Get New Trailers

After revealing a new Kingdom Hearts collection, Nintendo closed out today’s Direct with a major surprise — a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV.

The new collection, titled Kingdom Hearts Collection [I-III], contains Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5+2.5 Remix-, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC), which encapsulates the entire story thus far outside of the mobile titles. Worth noting is that this is not another cloud version of these games, meaning they will all be playable natively on the Nintendo Switch 2.

This new gathering of titles will be released for the PlayStaion 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Microsoft Store on Windows on October 8, with pre-orders being available as of today. The three home consoles will each come with an exclusive in-game Keyblade for Kingdom Hearts III, and the Nintendo Switch 2 version will be compatible with save data from the Nintendo Switch’s cloud version of the original titles. Finally, anyone who owned the digital versions of these collections can receive a 50% discount on the games, either as a pre-order or post-launch purchase.

Though it’s hard to say what all can be gleaned from the new trailer, Strelitzia, Luxord (or his Somebody), Vali, and Young Xehanort all seem to make brief appearances, in addition to the expected shots of Sora, Donald, and Goofy. Sora battles what appears to be a more realistic Darkside and uses a deluge of keyblades in combat.

When will Kingdom Hearts IV be released?

Though no release date or release date window for Kingdom Hearts IV was provided, the end of the trailer revealed that the game will be multiplatform upon release, meaning it’ll hit PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store all as soon as the game drops.
