Xenoblade Genesis Trailer Previews ‘New Beginning’ for the Series

It’s a great time to be a fan of Xenoblade, as the latest entry in the acclaimed RPG series was announced at this morning’s Nintendo Direct, with its title dropping the “Chronicles” term altogether, being dubbed Xenoblade Genesis.

Xenoblade Genesis, which is set to release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, takes place in a land that flows with “Anima” — a force that grants those who can wield it, known as Vesselai, incredible power. We get a peek at several characters with pointed elven ears, as well as the academic setting of Leukos and numerous other characters with more human facial features. We learn that the land the game is set in has six suns, with the end of the video then teasing that the people of that world would learn that “the vengeance of a fallen god had yet to be fulfilled.”

What was else was announced for the series outside of Xenoblade Genesis?

All three mainline entries of the Xenoblade Chronicles series will also be getting Nintendo Switch 2 editions that will bring 4K resolution and 60 fps to each game, alongside unique features that’ll be granted to all three. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition‘s Switch 2 version will be available digitally today and physically on July 30, while Xenoblade Chronicles 2‘s upgrade will be available digitally on July 30 and physically on October 1. Finally, Xenoblade Chronicles 3‘s definitive version will launch on December 3. The upgrade pack for existing owners of the games will cost $9.99 each.
