Nexon and IO Division shared new Blue Archive updates at Anime Expo 2026, giving fans a look at the game’s next chapter and introducing the studio’s new title, Project RX.
The July 3 panel featured several key IO Division developers, including Executive Project Director Kim Yongha, Project RX Director Cha Minseo, Blue Archive Deputy Project Director Lee Junho, Scenario Director Oh Hyunseok, and Music Director Mitsukiyo.
Blue Archive Heads Into Its Next Chapter
During the panel, the team reflected on Blue Archive’s story so far, discussed development insights, answered fan questions, and premiered the game’s seventh promotional video.
The new story chapter will focus on themes of urban legends and lore, signaling a new direction for the anime-style RPG’s ongoing narrative.
Project RX Makes Its North American Debut
Project RX also made its first North American appearance at Anime Expo. Project Director Cha Minseo introduced the title during the panel, offering a teaser for IO Division’s next project.
The team also hinted that the interactive rock-paper-scissors activity at the booth is tied to Project RX, giving attendees a small taste of how the game may handle character interactions.
Booth Activities and Fan Events
The IO Division booth featured separate Blue Archive and Project RX areas, with a Stamp Rally that let attendees complete mini-games and character encounters for rewards.
The Blue Archive zone recreated the energy of Kivotos through large character displays, photo areas, merchandise, live cosplay sessions, mini-games, and daily DJ performances featuring remixes from the game’s soundtrack. Several exclusive store items sold out on the first day.
The Project RX zone recreated an in-game location and included an interactive screen where attendees could speak to characters through voice commands to trigger reactions and challenges.
With a new Blue Archive story arc on the way and Project RX now in front of North American fans, IO Division gave Anime Expo attendees a strong look at what comes next.
