Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Gameplay Trailer Details Ki Breaks, Soul Assist, and Super Saiyan Transformations

Bandai Namco Entertainment America has released a new gameplay trailer for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, giving players a closer look at its combat systems, character building, and squad-based mission structure.

Set in the previously unexplored AGE 1000, the sequel lets players create their own hero and fight alongside Dragon Ball characters who once protected Earth. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2027.

A Full Mission in AGE 1000

The new trailer follows a rookie member of the Great Saiya Squad through a complete mission. Players will take on missions in squads of up to four, moving from waves of enemies to larger boss fights that require different tactics.

Bandai Namco is also placing greater focus on connection as a core theme. That idea carries into the story, character growth, ability customization, and combat systems tied to classic Dragon Ball heroes.

Ki Breaks and Battle Styles

Ki sits at the center of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3’s combat. Players can drain enemy Ki through combos, charged attacks, and Ki Drain-type Super Attacks. Once an enemy enters Ki Break status, they become vulnerable to Break Smash, a heavy finisher that deals more damage than standard Super Attacks.

Super Attacks will come in multiple types, each with its own secondary effect. Ultimate Attacks return as cinematic finishers that activate once their gauge fills.

Battle Styles also shape each character’s move set and combo routes, letting players use techniques inspired by fighters like Goku and Vegeta.

Soul Assist and Soul Switch

The trailer also shows Soul Assist, which lets players summon a Dragon Ball character to use one of their signature attacks once the Assist Gauge fills.

Soul Switch goes a step further by letting players temporarily channel a selected character’s soul. This changes their appearance and boosts combat abilities for a limited time.

Race-specific transformations will also return, including Super Saiyan. Bandai Namco says more races and playstyles will be revealed later.
