Square Enix and Disney have announced that Kingdom Hearts IV will be released in late 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The news came during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event 2026, where a new trailer debuted during the Disney Entertainment Showcase.
Coco Joins the Next Chapter
The new Kingdom Hearts IV trailer revealed a setting inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Coco.
The trailer also offered a longer look at Sora, Quadratum, and the Heartless causing chaos in the mysterious city. Sora will once again travel across Disney and Pixar-inspired locations as new characters appear and new powers awaken.
Mickey, Donald, and Goofy Return
The D23 trailer also confirmed the return of Donald Duck and Goofy.
Fans will be able to play as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy as they search for information about Sora’s whereabouts.
Anime Series in Development
Disney and Square Enix also announced Kingdom Hearts, a working-title original anime series for Disney Channel and Disney+.
The series is in development with Tetsuya Nomura and the Square Enix creative team.
25 Years of Kingdom Hearts IV
D23 also hosted the Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts panel, which looked back on 25 years of the series and its mix of Disney, Pixar, and Square Enix.
Kingdom Hearts IV is available to wishlist now ahead of its late 2027 launch.
