Xseed Games has announced that Fate/Extra Record will launch on January 28, 2027, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch.
The announcement came during PlayStation’s State of Play, where the publisher showed a new trailer for the rebuilt version of the 2010 PSP RPG.
The Moon Holy Grail War Returns
Fate/Extra Record is based on Fate/Extra, the first Fate RPG, originally released on PlayStation Portable in 2010.
The story begins after humanity finds the Moon Cell Automaton, a supercomputer hidden on the moon. It creates SE.RA.PH, a digital battlefield where 128 Masters fight with Servants for the Holy Grail, an omnipotent wish-granting device.
Players take the role of a Master with no memories, forced into the Moon Holy Grail War alongside a single Servant.
Saber, Archer, and Caster
Players can form a contract with one of three Servants: Saber, Archer, or Caster.
Each Servant brings a different combat style. As the Master and Servant grow closer, players gain new cards and abilities that help them survive battles and push closer to the truth behind the war.
New Combat and Presentation
Fate/Extra Record revises and expands the original story with added characterization and narrative depth.
The remake also adds a new card-based battle system built around turn-based strategy. Master and Servant abilities bring more tactical options to each fight.
On the presentation side, the game features upgraded character designs, improved visuals, full Japanese voiceover, and a new score.
Physical and Digital Editions
Physical pre-orders will open soon through the Marvelous USA Online Store and participating retailers.
The standard physical edition will cost $59.99 on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, while the Nintendo Switch 2 version will cost $69.99 and ship fully on cartridge.
A physical Limited Edition will include the game, a custom outer box, a three-disc soundtrack with the new score and the original Fate/Extra soundtrack, a Steelbook case, and an art book with more than 100 pages of original and concept art. It will cost $89.99 on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, and $99.99 on Nintendo Switch 2.
Digital editions will also be available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. The standard digital edition costs $59.99, while the $79.99 Digital Deluxe Edition includes a digital soundtrack, digital art book, Fate/Extra soundtrack DLC, and the Servant and Player Special Outfits Bundle.
Launching in January
