A Bird Story is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox for $3.99. Publisher Serenity Forge and developer Freebird Games announced the console release, along with free Steam updates and a new launch trailer.
Created by To the Moon series creator Kan Gao, the roughly hour-long experience tells its story entirely through interactive pixel animation and music.
A Boy Finds Friendship While Caring for an Injured Bird
The story begins when a young boy rescues a bird from a badger. After noticing its injured wing, he takes it home to help it recover.
Their time together gradually changes the boy’s solitary life. Everyday activities give way to dreamlike scenes as the story moves between reality and imagination.
A Wordless Story Told Through Animation and Music
Unlike Freebird Games’ other narrative titles, A Bird Story uses no text or dialogue. Its pixel animation conveys the characters’ actions and emotions, accompanied by an original soundtrack from Gao.
The console launch also brings free updates to the Steam version.
