LitGirls: Bookbound Dungeons is turning classic literature into a dangerous assignment. TurretGirls developer Nanairo Enterprise and publisher Dangen Entertainment have announced a dungeon-crawling RPG featuring anime characters inspired by Alice, Juliet, Dante, Raven, and other literary icons.
The game will launch on PC via Steam in the first half of 2027. Console versions remain to be determined.
Literary Characters Meet Turn-Based Dungeon Combat
You’ll assemble a party and explore literary-inspired dungeons filled with monsters, traps, resources, and bosses. Each expedition has an objective, but getting your team home alive matters as much as completing the assignment.
Combat places your characters across four ranks, facing enemies with their own formations. Each character gets one action per turn, making positioning, skill selection, and equipment part of your preparation.
Survival also involves managing two separate stats. HP tracks physical condition, while Pathos measures mental state. Once a character’s HP reaches zero, further attacks can cause death. Running out of Pathos can leave a fighter without the will to continue.
Damage also affects the characters’ appearance, leaving them with less visible equipment as fights wear on.
Collect Words and Build the Astral Scriptorum
Between expeditions, you’ll return to the Astral Scriptorum, a home base that exists outside conventional space and time. Resources recovered from dungeons let you improve the base, strengthen your party, and prepare skills and equipment for the next mission.
Another layer of strategy comes from Logos, a system built around collecting powerful words. You can equip them for passive buffs or use them during combat to help turn a difficult fight in your favor.
Party composition, formation, and Logos selection all feed into the game’s emphasis on preparation and risk. Pushing farther into a dungeon could bring better rewards, but those rewards depend on surviving the return trip.
Persona and Shadow Hearts Composers Contribute Music
LitGirls: Bookbound Dungeons features music by Yoshitaka Hirota of Shadow Hearts and Shoji Meguro of Persona. Gianty is providing development support.
The game follows TurretGirls as Nanairo Enterprise’s second title in its shared “Girls” setting, swapping railgun defense for dungeon exploration and turn-based battles.
At launch, LitGirls will support English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. The team plans to announce additional languages later.
An 18+ version is also planned for a separate PC platform, with platform and version details still to come. You can wishlist LitGirls: Bookbound Dungeons on Steam ahead of its planned release in the first half of 2027.
