SpaceCraft’s First Major Update Adds Exploration Areas, Trade, and Mining Pods

SpaceCraft has received its first major Early Access update, expanding exploration, trading, and automated production. Shiro Games, the studio behind Northgard, Dune: Spice Wars, and Wartales, has added 11 Restricted Areas, Travelling Merchants, and remote mining devices to its multiplayer space sim.

The update also adds player buying orders, more progression options, and additional ways to customize your base.

Explore Restricted Areas and Deploy Mining Pods

The 11 new Restricted Areas contain mysterious structures and puzzles, including an area designed around low gravity. Solving their challenges rewards you with XP and Data Disks containing useful findings.

Extractor Pods offer another reason to venture farther from home. You can deploy these standalone devices at remote resource deposits, where they gather materials and automatically return to your base once full.

Pods have limited durability, so repeated use means you’ll eventually need to replace them.

Trading Gains Buying Orders and Remote Access

Travelling Merchants bring player-specific specialty inventories, providing additional sources of goods.

At the Trade Nexus, you can now place buying orders that specify a resource, quantity, and price, or fulfill other players’ requests. A new Nexus Relay building lets you access the marketplace remotely.

Search, sorting, and item filters also make the Trade Nexus easier to use.

Ship Upgrades and Base Customization Expand

Shipyards at stations and bases now let you remove module patches, with a chance to recover them for reuse. Patch compatibility also follows module levels: high-level patches cannot strengthen low-level modules.

Additional progression options include advanced buildings, ship modules, production equipment, and logistics technology.

Planetary environments now feature new vegetation and atmospheric colors, and individual base facilities can have custom colors, icons, and names.

SpaceCraft is available on PC through Steam Early Access for $29.99.
