Fat Goblins has released an extended gameplay video ahead of its November 12 Early Access launch on PC via Steam. Positioned as a spiritual successor to Fat Princess, the multiplayer game sends 32 players into class-based capture-the-flag battles as rival goblin armies fight over captive royalty.
The footage offers a longer look at how those matches play out, from team clashes to the game’s less-than-appetizing approach to defending a prisoner. Defeated enemies can become food for your captive princess, making her harder for the opposing team to rescue.
Rescue Your Royalty and Capture the Enemy Princess
Fat Goblins builds its matches around competing fortresses and two objectives. Your team needs to rescue its royalty from enemy territory while bringing the opposing princess back to your own castle.
That setup gives both sides reasons to attack and defend. Reaching the enemy fortress is only part of the job: your team also has to protect its own territory and prevent the opposition from reclaiming its captive.
The feeding mechanic adds another consideration to that struggle. Turning fallen enemies into food makes the princess harder to recover, linking the fighting across the battlefield to the security of your prisoner.
The action uses a cartoon presentation, though the goblins’ methods involve plenty of blood and cannibalism. The new video pairs those mechanics with larger team battles rather than limiting the preview to brief clips.
Hats Determine Your Class
Class changes revolve around hats, giving the goblins’ headwear a practical role in combat. Switching hats changes your class, shaping how you approach the opposing army and support your teammates.
The mix of class-based fighting, fortress assaults, and captive princesses connects Fat Goblins to the PS3-era Fat Princess. Its goblin armies bring their own food-based complications to that familiar contest over royalty.
Fat Goblins enters Early Access on November 12.
