Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition is available now on Nintendo Switch 2. Eidos-Montréal’s updated release adds five exclusive outfits, mouse and motion controls, and a choice of graphics settings when playing on a TV.
Developed with Marvel Games, the Switch 2 edition is published by Eidos-Montréal and distributed by Plaion Partners. Its additions include a new look for every Guardian, with costumes inspired by 1980s glam rock.
Quality and Performance Modes Offer Different Targets
In TV mode, you can choose between two graphics settings. Quality mode targets 30 fps at 1440p, while Performance mode targets 40 fps at 1080p.
Performance mode requires a 120Hz television. That requirement matters if you’re planning to use the higher frame-rate option: it won’t be available on every display.
In handheld mode, Encore Edition targets 30 fps. Eidos-Montréal lists these figures as performance targets, rather than guarantees that every scene will run at the stated frame rate.
Mouse and Gyroscope Controls Join the Switch 2 Release
The game supports Switch 2 mouse functionality for menus and aiming, offering another control option alongside traditional controller inputs.
Gyroscope support applies to several movement sequences. You can tilt your controller to steer the Milano through space or guide Peter during sliding and zero-gravity sections.
The five glam-rock outfits are exclusive to Encore Edition. Each Guardian receives a costume, carrying the musical influence across the whole team rather than limiting it to Star-Lord.
Star-Lord Band Returns With “Encore”
The release also brings a new single called “Encore,” performed by Steve Szczepkowski and Yohann Boudreault. The pair created the music behind Star-Lord Band, the fictional group featured in the game.
The track is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and other digital music services. It accompanies the Switch 2 launch as another addition from the musicians behind the band.
