Stormforge Opens Public Playtest Registration Ahead of 2026 Early Access Launch

Roboto Games has opened registration for the first public playtest of Stormforge, its cel-shaded fantasy open-world survival crafting game. The playtest will take place in July, giving players an early chance to explore the game’s storm-ravaged world before its planned Early Access launch later this year.

The announcement arrived during the Women-Led Games Showcase alongside a new gameplay trailer showing Stormforge’s co-op survival systems, class-based combat, and magical storms.

Survive a World of Magical Storms

Stormforge is a cooperative survival game built for up to eight players.

The world has been overrun by magical storms that change how players explore, fight, and gather resources. Tornadoes can tear through the environment, sending rocks, trees, and enemies into the air, while dust storms reduce visibility and damage players caught inside them.

Each storm brings danger, but also valuable resources. Players will need to decide when to brave the weather, when to prepare, and when to retreat.

Classes, Bosses, and Custom Builds

Players begin as one of three classes: warrior, mage, or ranger.

Additional classes can be unlocked by defeating bosses, expanding the options available for character builds. Stormforge lets players mix and match skills across unlocked classes, creating flexible loadouts instead of locking players into a single archetype.

According to Roboto Games, the game includes 100 skills to unlock through surviving storms, clearing dungeons, and progressing through the world.

Play Your Way

Roboto Games Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer Mathilde Pignol said player freedom has been a major focus since development began.

The studio has used feedback from private tests to shape class design, allowing for hybrid playstyles such as stealth-focused warriors or mages with heavy melee attacks.

That flexibility is intended to let players build around their preferred approach rather than follow a fixed path.

Early Access Planned for 2026

Stormforge is planned to launch in Early Access on Steam in 2026.

Players can wishlist the game now and sign up for the July public playtest through Steam.
