Spooky Rabbits and publisher Mythwright have announced Model Kit Studio, a relaxing model-building simulator coming to Steam in 2027. Players can download the first playtest now and begin cutting, assembling, painting, posing, and photographing original mecha models.
The announcement came alongside a new trailer showing the game’s detailed model-building tools and customization systems.
Build Mecha Piece by Piece
Model Kit Studio recreates the model-making process through a set of simple hands-on tools.
Players can cut parts, file edges, assemble pieces, and build a collection of original mecha kits. The game focuses on the slower, methodical rhythm of model building, giving players space to personalize each creation.
Paint, Decal, and Customize
Once assembled, each model can be customized with paints and decals.
Players can use brushes or an airbrush to create their own color schemes, then add decals for extra detail. As the collection grows, each mecha can be shaped around the player’s preferred style.
Pose Models and Create Dioramas
Finished models can be posed in the photo studio, where players can create dioramas and capture shots of their work.
Model Kit Studio will also include community sharing features, allowing players to upload their favorite creations and browse other designs for inspiration.
A Story About Model-Building Fans
Beyond the building tools, Model Kit Studio includes an explorable environment and a story centered on a shared love of model-making.
Players will meet characters, learn their stories, and spend time with a community of hobbyists who share their passion for creating kits.
Model Kit Studio launches on Steam in 2027. The playtest is available now.
