genDesign and Epic Games Publishing have officially unveiled Gen Atlas, the long-awaited next project from legendary game director Fumito Ueda.
Revealed during Summer Game Fest 2026, the single-player sci-fi action-adventure is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
The announcement marks the first full reveal of the new title from the studio behind Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian.
A Mysterious Planet Awaits
Gen Atlas begins with the player awakening alone on an abandoned planet.
The world is filled with sprawling plains, deserted facilities, towering structures, and a vast sea that constantly shifts. Remnants of an unknown civilization are scattered across the landscape, hinting at a forgotten purpose behind the planet’s existence.
As players explore deeper into the world, they will gradually uncover more about the strange environment and the forces that shaped it.
Colossal Robots Play a Central Role
One of the trailer’s biggest reveals is a massive robot that appears to serve as a key part of the adventure.
According to genDesign, the machine’s immense power allows players to reach areas that were previously inaccessible, changing how they interact with and understand the world around them.
The reveal trailer suggests the robot will be more than a simple vehicle, potentially acting as a central mechanic that reshapes exploration and progression.
A New World From the Creator of Shadow of the Colossus
Fumito Ueda has built a reputation around atmospheric adventures focused on isolation, scale, and environmental storytelling.
While genDesign has not shared many details about the game’s story, the trailer emphasizes mystery, discovery, and a sense of quiet wonder that longtime fans will immediately recognize from Ueda’s previous work.
“The team and I are grateful to all the fans who’ve been eager to learn more about our game,” said Ueda. “Their passion and enthusiasm has always motivated and inspired us. We hope to share an experience that inspires moments of quiet wonder and discovery.”
Coming to PS5, Xbox, and PC
Epic Games Publishing is handling publishing duties for Gen Atlas.
The game is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
