My Time in Evershine Preview – Shine On, You Crazy Governor

The Nintendo area at Summer Game Fest 2026’s Play Days was pretty slick, being broken up into themed open rooms based around each game on display. I got to check out a few different titles, one of which was Pathea Games’ My Time in Evershine. It’s a life-sim role-playing game from Pathea Games and PM Studios, and its room was fittingly similar to a fantastical shop stall. It gave off a pretty otherworldly vibe that paired well with the colorful, cozy atmosphere of the game itself.

Set long after some form of an apocalypse, you play as the governor of a little town built upon the remains of the old world. I ran around with two companion characters, searching for an underground lab filled with botanical scientific wonders. On the way, I mined for resources, picked fruit, and battled bandits with simple yet smooth action combat that let me pull off some snazzy special moves. I’m hoping there’s a little bit more meat to the combat’s depth when the game is completed, but what’s here is certainly competent enough to work. I was on a timer, so I didn’t go too far out of my way to explore, but I got the sense from dallying a little bit that there’s plenty to explore outside of the suggested path.

Within the lab, I was able to use growth and dissolving serums to navigate damaged and rustic areas blocked by massive plants. These were pretty straightforward puzzles, but they suited the environment and allowed for a bit of creative thinking to get around the area. I ended the My Time in Evershine demo on a boss fight against a massive robot, which required a lot more timing and caution than the bandits. I loved its design and how different the fight felt compared to taking on grunts, so I’m sure the mix of big battles like this and laid-back resource collection will make for a pleasant life sim.

My Time in Evershine has a suitably cozy visual style.

The colorful visual style in My Time at Evershine suits the laid-back aesthetic well, and though there were a couple of stuttering performance issues here and there, I’m willing to accept that given release is still a ways off, it’ll likely be better optimized in the future. It’s also worth noting that I played only in docked mode, so I don’t have anything to say about handheld mode.

Finally, I was told that all of the characters in My Time in Evershine‘s cutscenes will have full voice acting when the game launches, which I’m looking forward to, as the dialogue and animation felt a little lifeless without it. The writing itself was fun, though, and gave these characters I knew pretty much nothing about enough personality to get me interested. I’m curious about the lore behind this post-apocalyptic world, and I’d especially like to know what exactly led to these future civilizations having to scrounge through secret labs.

Though it doesn’t have a release date yet, I think My Time in Evershine is shaping up to be a thoroughly enjoyable life-sim, and I’ll be keeping an eye on it going forward. Though it doesn’t have a release date yet, it’s set for release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
