Overlap Games has announced that Be Missed and Remembered: The Letter from Mayoiga will launch on Steam on July 10. The visual novel comes from Tomo Kataoka, the creator of Narcissu, and marks the first release from Overlap Co., Ltd.’s visual novel publishing label.
The game will support Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese at launch. It will be priced at $17.99, with a limited-time 10% release discount running from July 10 through July 19.
One Summer in 1972
Be Missed and Remembered: The Letter from Mayoiga is set during the summer of 1972. High school student Naofuyu travels with his younger sister Risa to spend a vacation in their grandparents’ rural hometown.
There, Naofuyu hears a local legend about a mysterious shrine said to appear in a lake only in summer. No one has seen it, and no one has entered it. The locals call it a modern-day Mayoiga, home to a creature known as Susu.
As Naofuyu searches for the Mayoiga, he meets a solitary girl who has spent countless years trapped inside it. The story follows the past and present as they begin to overlap through memory, loss, and the feelings that connect them.
From the Creator of Narcissu
Tomo Kataoka wrote the scenario for Be Missed and Remembered: The Letter from Mayoiga. Kataoka is best known for Narcissu, an independent visual novel recognized for its minimalist style and focus on life, death, and emotional distance.
This new original work continues Kataoka’s focus on quiet, character-driven storytelling, this time built around summer folklore, family memory, and a meeting that spans time.

Be Missed and Remembered: The Letter from Mayoiga launches July 10 on PC via Steam. The release sale will run through July 19, giving players a short window to pick it up at 10% off.
