4Divinity and developer Sword Panda Limited have released a new gameplay and story trailer for Sword Sage: Awakening, an upcoming action RPG inspired by Chinese mythology and folklore.
The trailer follows San Niang, a disciple of the Yuangong Sect, as she travels through Jiannandao and faces the fallout of an ancient mistake: the leaking of forbidden celestial books that gave humanity divine knowledge it was never meant to hold.
A Land Broken by Divine Knowledge
Sword Sage: Awakening takes place in Jiannandao, a land changed forever after the Supreme White Gibbon Sage drunkenly unearthed forbidden texts. The knowledge inside disrupted the balance between Earth and the spirit realm, bringing natural disasters and monstrous infestations.
To survive, the people of Jiannandao have developed advanced technology to fight back against the threats surrounding them. That setup gives the game a setting where Chinese folklore, spiritual danger, and science-fiction elements collide.
San Niang Takes the Lead
San Niang is shown fighting across Jiannandao with martial arts, mystical artifacts, and a secret swordsman technique. Her path puts her against powerful enemies tied to the chaos spreading through the land.
The trailer highlights fast sword combat, Taoist spells, and battles against Yaoguai, deadly demons that threaten what remains of Jiannandao.
Action RPG Combat Rooted in Folklore
Sword Sage: Awakening focuses on action RPG combat built around swordplay, martial arts, spellcasting, and artifact use. Players will master techniques from the Yuangong Sect while cutting through enemies and confronting the deeper mystery behind the forbidden texts.
No release date has been announced yet, but the new trailer offers a clearer look at the game’s mythological story, combat style, and the damaged land of Jiannandao.
