Bandai Namco revealed new Gundam Rogue Orbit details during San Diego Comic-Con 2026, giving fans a closer look at the game’s new timeline, its ties to Mobile Suit Gundam RG Xarx-Zero, and its lead mobile suit, Gundam Helix.
Developed by Bandai Namco Studios, Gundam Rogue Orbit is a fast-paced, high-mobility action game planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2027.
The RG Project Connects Game and Anime
The SDCC panel introduced the RG Project, a new Gundam initiative that links Gundam Rogue Orbit with the upcoming anime Mobile Suit Gundam RG Xarx-Zero.
Director Kenji Kamiyama and author Toh Enjoe created the shared setting, which begins after an object from another galaxy grants humanity three major advances: Gravity Control, FTL Communication, and Cognitive Materialization.
Less than ten years later, that same object runs rampant, creating a hostile, self-replicating ecosystem known as the Apocalypse. Humanity survives by leaving Earth, marking the first year After Apocalypse. By A.A. 45, children born on the Moon and in space colonies have never known life without that threat.
RE-X and Gundam Helix Take the Lead
Gundam Rogue Orbit puts players in the role of RE-X, an ace pilot who controls Gundam Helix.
The game will send players into large battlefields filled with enemy hordes, massive bosses, and high-speed combat. Bandai Namco says Gundam Helix was designed with realism in mind, while its waist and spinal structure take cues from Gundam Zero in Mobile Suit Gundam RG Xarx-Zero.
Gunpla and Card Game Tie-Ins
Bandai Namco also announced Gundam tie-ins for Gundam Rogue Orbit.
Fans can expect an HG 1/144 Gundam Helix Gunpla model kit at retailers. The game’s Collector’s Edition will include the exclusive HG 1/144 ARK-10 Gundam Helix (Earth Blue ver.).
Gundam Rogue Orbit will also appear in the Gundam Card Game. A promotional card using the game’s key art will be distributed at events before the title joins future card products.
