Eschatology Entertainment and 4Divinity have released a 2025 Guns of Eschaton interview with Creative Director Fuad Kuliev and the late Visual Director Viktor Antonov, known for his work on Half-Life 2 and Dishonored.
The interview focuses on the studio’s debut title, an apocalyptic Western Soulslike inspired by nineteenth-century Americana.
Building an Alternate History Western
In the interview, Kuliev and Antonov discuss how Guns of Eschaton took shape through historical research, visual experimentation, and philosophical ideas.
Kuliev describes the core concept as alternate history, saying, “Billy the Kid has a High Noon duel with Lucifer.” That line gives a clear read on the tone: mythic Western imagery pushed into something stranger and darker.
Viktor Antonov’s Visual Approach
Antonov explains that the team pulled from architecture, history, technology, and weaponry before adding the game’s more surreal elements.
That approach fits his past work, where grounded spaces often carried a strange, lived-in quality. For Guns of Eschaton, the goal appears to be a setting that feels well-researched yet warped by the game’s apocalyptic premise.
A Look at Eschatology’s Debut Game
The interview gives players a closer look at how Eschatology Entertainment connects story, art direction, and game design.
Rather than treating the setting as a simple backdrop, the team frames it as the foundation for combat, tone, and narrative. Guns of Eschaton is still in development, with more details expected from Eschatology Entertainment and 4Divinity.
