Devolver Digital and Team Lazerbeam have announced that Shroom and Gloom will launch in Steam Early Access on September 10.
The first-person roguelike double deckbuilder also has a demo available now on Steam.
Two Decks, One Weird Dungeon
Shroom and Gloom splits its card play across two decks.
The Explore deck handles actions like searching, breaking, unlocking, igniting, feeding, and fixing as players move through hand-drawn dungeons. The Combat deck handles the fights, letting players hack, slash, roast, and eat fungal enemies on the way toward The Gloom.
Every Enemy Is Edible
Combat in Shroom and Gloom lets players turn defeated mushroom monsters into resources.
Fallen enemies can be skewered, seasoned, roasted, and eaten to restore health. Players can also throw them into a pot to brew soups that change a run.
Cards Keep Growing
Cards can be upgraded without a hard limit, letting players turn low-level starting cards into major attacks or push rare cards into run-breaking tools.
The game will feature hundreds of cards, meta progression, and a wide range of enemies spread across caves and tunnels.
Demo Available Now
Shroom and Gloom launches in Steam Early Access on September 10 for PC.
Players can try the demo on Steam now, and Team Lazerbeam has also shared a new deep-dive video for a closer look at the game’s dungeon crawling and deckbuilding systems.
