4Divinity and SwordPandaGames shared a new Sword Sage: Awakening trailer during the Future Games Show at gamescom 2026.
The latest look at the action RPG focuses on Pei Sanniang, fast sword combat, deadly Yaoguai, and the lands of Jiannandao.
Pei Sanniang Takes Up the Blade
Sword Sage: Awakening follows Pei Sanniang, a young disciple of the Yuangong Sect.
A thousand years before the game’s story, forbidden celestial texts meant to stay sealed were opened, bringing monstrous Yaoguai and natural disasters. Pei Sanniang must now fight back and restore her homeland.
Sword Combat and Taoist Spells
The trailer shows Pei Sanniang facing supernatural enemies with martial arts, mystical artifacts, and her sect’s secret sword technique.
Combat mixes traditional swordsmanship, fast-action RPG systems, Taoist spells, and artifact use as players hunt down Yaoguai across Jiannandao.
Ancient Temples and Mountain Paths
The new footage also shows several areas players will cross, including ancient temples, mountain paths, and bamboo forests.
SwordPandaGames is building Jiannandao around Chinese folklore, ancient disasters, and science-fiction elements.
