Onyx: The Dark Grip is offering a closer look at its horror soundtrack. Broken Mirror Games, Bloober Team’s horror imprint, has released a behind-the-scenes interview with Polish composer Jan Borysewicz about his work on the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.
Scheduled for 2027, the game first appeared during September’s Nintendo Direct.
Jan Borysewicz Discusses Unease and Hope
The video, titled The Music of Onyx: The Dark Grip – Working with an Icon, features Borysewicz and Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno discussing how the soundtrack took shape.
The music was produced in collaboration with FILMharmonic Orchestra, Prague. Borysewicz describes an approach that pairs unsettling sounds with a sense of hope, rather than treating every moment as an outright scare.
“My focus was more on evoking a sense of unease through the music, but paired with elements of hope,” Borysewicz said.
A separate biographical drama about the composer’s life and career, directed by Kristoffer Rus, is also scheduled to arrive globally on Netflix on October 7.
Horror Built Around Handheld Play
Onyx: The Dark Grip is designed exclusively around handheld play, making physical interaction with the Nintendo Switch 2 part of the experience.
You can touch the screen to manipulate objects and tilt the system to channel the God’s power. The announcement also describes blowing into the microphone to warm The Vessel before the cold claims him.
Broken Mirror Games says additional hardware interactions will feature in the full release, tying your actions with the console to the character’s survival.
Onyx: The Dark Grip launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
