The Escapists 3 is heading back behind bars in 2027, this time in fully 3D prisons. Team17 announced the prison-sandbox sequel during the Triple-i Initiative Showcase, confirming a PC and console release.
The sequel features five prisons, more than 120 new weapons to steal and craft, and co-op escapes for up to four players. Pogo sticks and molten chocolate are also on the list of questionable escape-planning tools.
Five Prisons With Multiple Ways to Escape
Each prison has its own routines, characters, and secrets. You’ll observe guard rotations, gather supplies, and work out which systems you can exploit before making your move.
Searching cells, trading with inmates, and completing jobs help you collect materials. From there, you can craft equipment, sneak past guards, fight your way through trouble, or improvise when your plan falls apart.
Team17 says there is no single solution to each escape, leaving room to experiment with different approaches.
New Skills Carry Across Prisons
New to The Escapists 3, earning XP grants additional skills and gameplay options. These let you specialize in specific escape methods, and your progression carries over between prisons.
This lets you develop your inmate around your preferred playstyle while adapting to each facility’s restrictions.
Local Split-Screen and Four-Player Online Co-op
You can attempt each breakout solo or bring accomplices. The game supports two players in local split-screen and up to four players online.
Working together lets your group combine different strengths, though coordinating an escape also gives everyone more opportunities to derail it.
The Escapists 3 launches on PC and consoles in 2027.
