El Paso, Elsewhere 2 has released its first playable Steam demo alongside a new trailer. Developer Strange Scaffold and publisher Frosty Pop are offering an early sample of the supernatural third-person shooter ahead of its 2027 PC and Xbox Series X|S launch.
The demo features one early campaign level, taking returning protagonist James Savage into a fairytale forest populated by witches, gargoyles, and gun-toting vampire mafiosos.
A Haunted Forest Introduces New Weapons
The demo’s swampy groves give players a taste of the sequel’s expanded environments and enemy variety. You’ll wield weapons new to the series, including an M16 and an automatic shotgun.
The full game features 15 weapons, ranging from Western revolvers to a tommy gun that fires vampire-killing stakes.
James also gains vampiric abilities that let him dive off thin air, backflip off enemies, and feed on blood released when he stakes opponents.
James Savage Returns to Repay an Eldritch Debt
Following the first game, James travels across the United States fighting monsters and sealing away supernatural threats. A close friend’s betrayal drags him into the Void, where an eldritch horror demands repayment of a terrible debt.
Saving himself now means saving the person who betrayed him.
The campaign spans more than 20 handcrafted levels, including reality-defying nightclubs, multidimensional libraries, and eerie suburbs. Enemies include possessed animatronics, Frankenstein, goblin shamans, and biblically accurate angels.
Building on the Original’s Foundations
Strange Scaffold studio head Xalavier Nelson Jr. said the team looked to PS2-era development methods, reusing the original game’s foundations and assets to support faster, more agile combat and more detailed environments.
Fully voiced cutscenes continue the series’ neo-noir storytelling. The soundtrack includes an original hip-hop horror rap album produced by RJ Lake and a multi-genre instrumental score by Chicago-based producer kalibration.
El Paso, Elsewhere 2 launches in 2027 on PC via Steam and Xbox Series X|S. Its first demo is available on Steam.
