Lair of the Leviathan is bringing party-based adventuring and turn-based combat to PC and consoles. Publisher Deck13 Spotlight announced the pixel-art RPG from Nostalgic Realms and Whiskybarrel Studios, two solo developers working together on a game inspired by Ultima, Pool of Radiance, and the early Baldur’s Gate games.
An announcement teaser is available now, and Steam and GOG wishlists are open.
Exploration Takes Priority Over Quest Markers
The developers describe an RPG built around finding your own route, assembling a party, and pursuing side quests at your own pace.
Handcrafted towns and dungeons set the stage for exploration, emphasizing detailed locations over a checklist of markers. Turn-based battles round out an approach that draws directly from the team’s classic RPG influences.
Revealed Alongside Drova II: Torn Lands
Deck13 Spotlight introduced Lair of the Leviathan during the announcement event for Drova II: Torn Lands, another RPG in the publisher’s lineup.
The teaser also revealed cover art by fantasy artist Matt Stawicki.
Lair of the Leviathan is planned for PC and consoles, though the publisher has not announced specific console platforms or a release window.
