Abelina Announced for Steam With Non-Violent Afterlife Platforming

Abelina is taking its secrets into the afterlife. Developer Gabe Askew and publisher Indieformer have announced the non-violent platformer for Steam, with an early 2027 release planned and a public demo arriving in November 2026.

The handcrafted adventure follows Vasily through a strange hereafter populated by glowing wildlife, uneasy companions, and people avoiding difficult questions about their existence.

Leave a Quiet Settlement for the Dark Frontier

Vasily awakens in Abelina, a settlement where residents tend gardens and avoid considering where they really are. When tragedy disrupts that routine, he leaves for the surrounding wilderness, carrying his own secrets.

Each night, a former companion catches up with him to seek answers around a campfire. Those encounters gradually reveal more about Vasily and the home he left behind.

Explore Branching Paths Without Combat

Abelina focuses on climbing, jumping, and exploration rather than fighting. Its platforming becomes more demanding as you follow branching routes through increasingly surreal environments.

Glowing pools and fluorescent plants illuminate the darkness, while hidden corners reward players willing to stray from the obvious route.

The wildlife includes rabbit-cats, giant moths, and glowing goats. Their behavior and the game’s dark humor contribute to a story about life, death, and unresolved baggage.

Abelina launches on Steam in early 2027. Its first public demo is planned for November.
