Astral Dive, a story-driven RPG from Italian developer R-Games, is targeting an early 2027 release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The studio’s debut game combines turn-based battles, customizable spell decks, and hand-drawn pixel art.
You play as Atlas, a young mage investigating events that shook his magic academy years earlier. His search takes him through astral portals into other dimensions, where new companions and clues help him piece together what happened.
Build Spell Decks With Stellar Tiles
Combat centers on Stellar Tiles, a system of magical cards that lets you customize your spell deck and manipulate the battlefield. Collecting spells expands your options, while combining elements creates magical combos against creatures and bosses.
The system pairs traditional turn-based RPG planning with deckbuilding. Choosing spells and finding useful combinations form part of preparing your party, giving you ways to approach encounters through the abilities you collect.
Atlas won’t fight alone. Companions join him along the way, each bringing their own history and special abilities to the group. Learning about those allies goes hand in hand with the larger investigation into the academy.
Explore Seven Locations Through Astral Portals
Astral portals connect seven locations, each containing its own characters, mysteries, and pieces of the game’s history. These areas deepen Atlas’s understanding of the academy’s past and the events shaping his future.
R-Games is drawing on older 2D RPGs for the presentation, using entirely hand-drawn pixel art across environments, character animation, and spell effects. The studio describes detailed, layered environments as central to that approach.
The combination places exploration and combat alongside the narrative: portals take Atlas to new areas, companions add to his party, and collected spells broaden the decks available for battle.
R-Games Targets Early 2027
Astral Dive is currently in development at R-Games, a studio within Venice-based IT consulting company R-Factory.
