Echoes of the End, the cinematic action-adventure debut from Reykjavík-based studio Myrkur Games, officially arrives later this summer on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, publisher Deep Silver announced during the June 2025 showcase wave.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5 and inspired by Iceland’s raw, untamed landscapes, Echoes of the End is a narrative-driven epic following a magically gifted warrior named Ryn, who sets out to rescue her brother from a collapsing empire. Accompanied by the haunted scholar Abram Finlay, her journey soon unravels a conspiracy that could plunge the world of Aema into full-blown war.
A World Forged by Memory and Magic
The new gameplay trailer offers the most in-depth look yet at Echoes of the End’s mystical world—a fractured land shaped by elemental power, loss, and ancient conflict. From glacial ruins to molten battlegrounds, Aema presents a constantly evolving environment where time and gravity can be bent to the player’s will.
As Ryn, players will:
- Wield a mix of fast-paced melee and magical combat, taking on both human enemies and monstrous creatures.
- Solve puzzles and traverse environmental challenges using spells that manipulate gravity, summon illusions, and alter terrain.
- Make choices that impact relationships and outcomes, with story and gameplay deeply tied to Ryn’s bond with Abram.
Performance-Driven Storytelling
With full motion capture and an all-Icelandic voice cast, including Aldís Amah Hamilton as Ryn and Karl Ágúst Úlfsson as Abram, Echoes of the End leans into cinematic storytelling. The adventure unfolds over ten handcrafted chapters, each packed with emotional turns, new threats, and character-driven developments.
The game also features an original score by Viktor Ingi Guðmundsson, blending traditional Icelandic motifs with sweeping orchestral pieces.
Iceland in Every Frame
Myrkur Games—founded by a close-knit team of Icelandic developers—has crafted a bespoke development pipeline rooted in photogrammetry, motion capture, and expressive storytelling. The result: a fantasy world that feels uniquely grounded, personal, and mythic.
Echoes of the End will be available later this summer. Players can wishlist the game now on Steam to stay updated.
