Fading Echo Lets You Become Water in a Flowing, Form-Shifting Action-Adventure

There’s a new force rippling through the action-adventure genre. Fading Echo, a bold and fluid debut from developer Emeteria and publisher New Tales, was unveiled during the Future Games Show with a splashy trailer and a powerful concept: what if your body, movement, and combat were all made of water?

Launching in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, Fading Echo is built around dynamic traversal, element-based interactions, and fluid combat systems where form defines function, and adaptability is survival.

Shape, Shift, and Crash Through a Fractured World

In Fading Echo, players control One, a mysterious young warrior known as a “Legend,” who shifts between human, liquid, and aquatic forms. Whether flowing through narrow pipes as a droplet or crashing into enemies as a water bomb, One’s journey is one of fluid motion and constant transformation.

To save her collapsing world and unravel the truth behind her lineage, One must reconnect a broken power source known as the Æther, fight strange elemental threats, and uncover secrets hidden deep within the Echoverse—a shattered multiverse of unstable, surreal realms.

Game Features:

  • Elemental Form-Shifting
Master transitions between water, vapor, and forceful flows to move, fight, and solve puzzles across unpredictable zones.
  • Systemic, Creative Combat
Use your environment as part of your strategy. Steam, wind, and momentum shape battles in unique ways as new powers unlock.
  • Living World Design
Each area behaves differently, rewriting its own rules with portal distortions, gravity shifts, and other wild environmental changes.
  • Stylized Comic-Book Aesthetic
With a visual style blending bold lines and otherworldly color palettes, every moment in Fading Echo looks like it was ripped from the pages of a futuristic graphic novel.
  • Star-Studded Voice Cast
Featuring performances from Laura Bailey, Matt Mercer, Samantha Béart, and Jasmine Bhullar, the game’s narrative is brought to life by top-tier voice talent.

A Vision That’s as Playful as It Is Powerful

Emeteria Head of Studio Sylvain Sechi described the game’s philosophy: “We didn’t want to make a backdrop — we wanted to make a world you can mess with.” New Tales CEO Cédric Maréchal added, “Fading Echo is our first fully internal project, and I couldn’t be prouder. It’s everything we want to represent as developers.”

Creative Director Emmanuel Obert summed it up best: “This whole project came from a bold idea—and somehow turned into a world-class collaboration.”

Fading Echo is set to release in 2026 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players can wishlist the game on all major platforms now.
