Deck13 Spotlight has announced it will publish Forge of the Fae, the debut title from international developer Datadyne. Known for backing acclaimed indies like CrossCode and Chained Echoes, Deck13 is adding another narrative-rich JRPG to its portfolio.
Set for a 2027 release on PC and consoles, Forge of the Fae draws players into a world inspired by 1800s Ireland, where human and fae tensions simmer as an ancient power stirs. Players will follow Fiora, a young inventor, as she embarks on a journey of mystery, discovery, and self-realization. Choices throughout the adventure will shape the story’s outcome, adding a personal touch to each playthrough.
Classic JRPG Gameplay with Modern Systems
Fans of retro-inspired RPGs can expect turn-based battles layered with strategic depth. The game’s ARC Crystal System and Adrenaline mechanics allow for versatile, customizable spells and abilities, encouraging experimentation and tactical thinking. Outside of combat, puzzle-solving will play a major role, rewarding exploration with powerful gear and hidden lore.
A Publisher-Developer Match Made in RPG Heaven
“Forge of the Fae is a perfect match for us,” said Michael Hoss, Head of Product at Deck13 Spotlight. “Even in its early stages it is incredibly well crafted and pulls all the right triggers.”
David Schooley of Datadyne added, “Not only do [Deck13] fully understand the vision of the game, but they also know the JRPG market so well. We are super excited for the upcoming journey!”
Hands-On Demos at Gamescom and TGS
A free demo is already available on Steam, and Forge of the Fae will be playable at the Indie Arena Booth at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, as well as at the Tokyo Game Show later this year.
The full release is planned for 2027, but fans can wishlist the game now to follow development updates.
