During Future Games Show, Kakehashi Games and developer Serial Project revealed Serial World, a brand-new deck-building JRPG launching exclusively on PC in 2026. The announcement was accompanied by a whimsical trailer that teased its colorful world, mysterious creatures, and strategic gameplay.
Milo’s Journey Through Bricktown and Beyond
Serial World follows a boy named Milo, whose quiet hometown of Bricktown is suddenly upended by the appearance of strange anomalies and a mysterious door. Each time Milo steps through, he’s thrust into a surreal world of looping dungeon mazes filled with quirky enemies and fantastical creatures known as Anima. When he escapes, he wakes up in his own bed only for the cycle to begin again.
As Milo continues his looping adventures, both Bricktown and its residents begin to change in subtle and unsettling ways. With every run, players will uncover new layers of the story and inch closer to unraveling the truth behind Milo’s strange reality.
Anima Companions and Deck-Building Battles
At the heart of Serial World is its blend of deck-building, JRPG mechanics, and roguelike exploration. Players can collect and battle with up to eight Anima, each with their own unique strengths and abilities. Anima can evolve mid-battle by charging their talismans, giving players access to stronger skills and deeper strategies.
The turn-based combat system lets players customize their decks with different skills and traits, opening up endless team compositions. Whether focusing on offense, defense, or clever status effects, no two dungeon runs will play out the same way.
A World of Friends, Foes, and Fantastical Encounters
Serial World also promises a colorful supporting cast, from cheerful townsfolk to eccentric merchants and bizarre foes like bouncing dragons and sentient baby donuts. Exploration isn’t just about survival, it’s about forging connections, discovering secrets, and seeing how each loop shifts Milo’s world.
Release Date and Platforms
Serial World is set to launch in 2026 exclusively on PC via Steam. Players can wishlist the game now to keep up with future updates as Milo’s mysterious journey takes shape.
