High on Life 2 Preview – Skateboards, Talking Guns, and Total Chaos

High on Life 2 comes only a few years after its debut in 2022, and it’s just as ridiculous as it was before. How do you expand on a sequel to a game where all your guns are sentient beings that talk to you nonstop, and you’re given a kooky alien world to explore? Easy — you add more guns and a skateboard. You return as the protagonist from the first game, fresh off saving humanity and now working as a bounty hunter on a mission to assassinate Senator Muppy Doo (voiced by the ever-hilarious Richard Kind). You halo drop into “ConCon,” which is a convention for conventions, and you have to shoot your way to PoliCon (the con for politics), where Muppy Doo is giving a speech on passing a law to legalize turning humans into snortable drugs. It’s all stupid, but in the best way possible.

Skateboarding Into Mayhem: Traversal and Tricks

The absolute coolest addition in this game is the inclusion of a skateboard that replaces your traditional sprint, but on top of that, you can use it to grind on rails, and depending on the direction you jump toward the rail, it will change the trick you do too. Again, it’s these layers of silliness that stack on top of each other that really make High on Life work so well. Ralph Ineson joins the cast as a fellow bounty hunter who meets his end and becomes an assault rifle for you to use that can fire electrified stakes that zip across the area.

The hit on Muppy Doo doesn’t go too well, and you have to chase him across the area, which eventually leads you to MurderCon (the convention for murder, as you can expect), where you’re forced to participate in a gladiatorial battle before you can catch back up with the senator. It’s here where High on Life does one of my favorite jokes, as Muppy Doo shrinks small enough to slip into your suit software, and you have to go into the literal game settings (while controlling Suit-O) to fight him. The chaos in the settings causes things like the language to change as that setting gets flicked around, or a full-blown factory reset to occur that forces you to play 1991’s Bible Adventures.

What We’re Excited to See in High on Life 2

Like I’ve said a few times before, it’s all really stupid in a really fun way, and I can’t wait to see what else High on Life 2 has hiding up its sleeve when it releases next year in 2026.
