Truxton Extreme Adds Co-Op Mode, Playable Demo Coming to Tokyo Game Show 2025

Clear River Games and Tatsujin have revealed a brand-new trailer for Truxton Extreme, showing off the game’s newly announced co-op mode. The iconic shoot ‘em up series is getting a major multiplayer twist, letting players team up to blast through alien horrors together. A playable demo of this new mode will also be available at Tokyo Game Show 2025 from September 25–28.

Teamwork in the Stars

For the first time in the franchise’s history, players can fight side by side as Earth’s defenders. Co-op play allows revives, weapon redirection using ship hulls, and the chance to double the firepower against grotesque alien invaders like slithering mechanical serpents and spiked monstrosities. The addition leans into teamwork as much as reflexes, ensuring the nightmare-fueled Geranium invasion has no easy wins.

Carrying the Truxton Legacy

The original Truxton, designed by Tatsujin CEO Masahiro Yuge in 1988, set the stage for the series’ relentless action and reliance on muscle memory. Truxton Extreme keeps that DNA intact, while modernizing with 3D visuals, multiple modes, and even an episodic comic-book story illustrated by manga artist Junya Inoue. Players can also look forward to a soundtrack that mixes reimagined Truxton classics with new tracks composed by Yuge himself.
