Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2, 2025, letting players experience the series’ latest historical adventure both at home and on the go. Optimized for all play modes, this version introduces touchscreen navigation for menus, maps, and the hideout, offering the most seamless portable Assassin’s Creed experience yet.
At launch, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition will include all previously released content updates, with only the “Claws of Awaji” expansion arriving in early 2026.
Feudal Japan, Reimagined
Developed by Ubisoft Quebec, Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes players to feudal Japan, a stunningly detailed world brought to life by the enhanced Anvil engine. The game features two playable protagonists with contrasting styles:
- Naoe, a stealth-focused shinobi Assassin who strikes from the shadows.
- Yasuke, a skilled samurai warrior who dominates enemies in open combat.
Players can freely switch between the two heroes, combining their strengths to navigate missions, uncover secrets, and shape the fate of a nation.
“We are delighted to bring Assassin’s Creed Shadows to Nintendo players,” said Charles Benoit, Game Director at Ubisoft. “Whether slipping through the shadows as Naoe or facing foes head-on as Yasuke, players will be able to roam the streets and rooftops of feudal Japan anywhere their journey takes them.”
Switch 2 Features and Editions
The Switch 2 version will support cross-progression via Ubisoft Connect, allowing players to pick up right where they left off across any platform.
Players can choose between two editions at launch:
- Standard Edition – $59.99 (physical or digital)
- Premium Edition – $99.99 (digital only)
The physical version includes a Nintendo Switch 2 game-key card, while digital purchases will be available through the Nintendo eShop.
