We made it to the end of the year! Hooray! And what a tumultuous year it has been, despite being a pretty fun year for gaming. Indies especially have had a great year, and to cap it off, I’ve got six indies here for you that are sure to garner some interest.
I’ll also be including Unbeatable’s blurb in this list, as well, since the game received a slight delay from last month. Along with Unbeatable, we’ve got some very bizarre and novel indie games to send you off into the holidays, and hopefully, you find something unique to keep you in front of your computer, away from the inclement weather.
Don’t forget to add any game that seems interesting to you to your wishlist. I highly recommend checking out all of these demos, and please let me know if you find something interesting.
Wild Growth
Platforms: PC | Release Date: December 1st
Wild Growth has the cadence of a clicker game with the depth and strategy of something shooting far higher. A simple grid with a set number of units to bring into each campaign mission, with each unit performing a different task. Warriors simply deal damage when hit by blocks but tanks and mages can be unlocked to help defend.
Ten waves of blocks will bounce around in a reverse arkanoid fashion, desperately trying to break your blocks as you heal and maintain your troops. Collect leaves and lil’ guy heads to upgrade your units, unlock new units, and increase your spell power.
Wild Growth releases on December 1st, 2025, on PC via Steam. If you’re unsure, Cuddle Monster Games posted a demo on the game’s Steam page.
Kingdom of Night
Platforms: PC | Release Date: December 2nd
When a local mine broke down in Miami, Arizona, in 1987, the Friends of Safety got together to create a sort of neighborhood watch and set a curfew. A good idea in theory, there’s nothing high school kids like more than breaking the rules.
In Kingdom of Night, players will play as a high school dweeb who can’t even ask a girl out to a senior’s party. John, our protagonist, ends up thrown into a conspiracy involving a satanic cult, zombies, and the kidnapping of his neighbor’s girl crush. Choose a class, upgrade your abilities, and kill 80s zombies in this strange take on Action RPGs.
Kingdom of Night releases on December 2nd, 2025, on PC via Steam. Looking to give it a try before buying? There’s a demo available on the game’s Steam page.
Sleep Awake
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S | Release Date: December 2nd
What do you do when you can’t sleep? You might take a pill or some warm tea to soothe your frayed nerves, but what if falling asleep wasn’t the problem? Sleep Awake takes place in the last city on Earth. If you fall asleep, there’s a chance you’ll succumb to the psychosis of The Hush.
Katja begins hallucinating, or is it dreaming? Trying to stay awake, she must create a serum to be consumed through her eyes in order to stave off sleep. And in the process, uncover what’s going on in this mysterious world to drive people so close and beyond the brink of insanity.
Sleep Awake is releasing on December 2nd, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Wishlist the game on the coming platforms or check out the demo available on the Steam page.
ANGST: A Tale of Survival
Platforms: PC | Release Date: December 5th
How long do you think you could survive in the frozen wilderness with only the clothes on your back and your wits? For me, I’d probably die immediately out of worry, but when the crackle of the radio clicked on, and a voice started giving instructions, I might see how it plays out.
ANGST: A Tale of Survival puts the player in the shoes of a man who should have frozen to death but was instead dragged to a cabin in the wilderness. The man who saved him is no longer there, but gives him instructions on the radio. Not instructions on how to escape The Hollow, but how to survive it.
ANGST: A Tale of Survival releases on December 5th, 2025, on PC via Steam. A demo is available on the game’s Steam page if you want to try before you buy.
Angeline Era
Platforms: PC | Release Date: December 8th
It’s taken years, but we’re finally getting back into bumper combat! Angeline Era is a 3D puzzle platformer with bumper combat. Presented as a non-linear game, there’s an overworld with a search function that allows you to find and enter a lot of optional dungeons.
Navigating the overworld, your movement is limited, but when you find a dungeon to enter, you’ll be faced with a first-person perspective and made to dodge and attack enemies like a minigame. Get through, and you can get into the dungeon. Essential dungeons will end with a glass seal that opens the way forward. Angeline Era is so much fun!
Angeline Era releases on December 8th, 2025, on PC via Steam. I recommend trying the game’s demo, available on its Steam page.
UNBEATABLE
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S | Release Date: December 9th
Unbeatable has an incredible premise because music is illegal now, so it’s time to go where people need it most and commit crimes. Beat is our pink-haired protagonist, and she’s living her dream performing in a band.
Unbeatable is a rhythm-based narrative adventure game. It looks and sounds gorgeous, with an anime-inspired art style and some truly wonderful music. Most importantly, the rhythm gameplay is SO fun both to play AND watch.
Unbeatable releases on December 9th, 2025, for PC via Steam. Seriously, add this game to your wishlist and check out the demo if you have a chance on the game’s Steam page.
Observe
Platforms: PC | Release Date: December 12th
Observe is a pretty fascinating puzzle game where the player controls an enigmatic figure that radiates light from where its face should be. The light can control pieces in the rooms the player is in, like mirrors and what look like crystal balls. Lighting up the balls is the way to open doors and clear the rooms.
The rooms are all separated by barriers but connected through windows and open-air spaces to shine your light through. When you complete a room, the game records your movements and plays them back every time you start a new room. This results in a really fascinating puzzle game that requires you to complete an individual puzzle before seeing how it plays out on a grander scale.
Observe releases on December 12th, 2025, on PC via Steam. I cannot recommend checking out the demo enough; it is a very cool idea and executed in a very unique way.
I hope I’m sending you off on a good note into the new year, where we’re sure to have a boatload of fresh indies for you. Next month will be a full year of writing these, and I’d like to think I’ve helped connect people with some indie games.
