The creators of Anodyne 2 and Sephonie are back with Angeline Era, a nonlinear 3D action-adventure launching December 8, 2025, on Steam. This time, they’re sending players across a sprawling overworld where every level is “hidden in plain sight,” encouraging pure exploration and discovery.
A World of Fae, Humans, and Angels Waiting to Be Uncovered
Angeline Era drops players into an unmarked overworld spanning forests, mountains, mines, towns, condemned structures, spiritual sites, and surreal landscapes. There’s no prescribed path for players to choose where to go, what to uncover, or which dangers to face first.
The story follows Tets Kinoshta, a wandering ex-soldier who partners with Arkas Gemini, an Angel seeking access to Throne, the Angels’ dormant mothership locked behind a storm. As the pair traverse the land of Era, they’ll stumble into levels hidden throughout its regions, each shedding new light on the complex coexistence of Fae, Angels, and Humans.
“Bump the World!” Combat and Fierce Boss Encounters
Combat in the Angeline Era is built on the fast-paced Bumpslash system, where players simply walk into enemies to strike, creating a surprisingly snappy, intuitive feel without relying on attack buttons. Subweapons and a firearm add extra layers of strategy, especially in tougher action-focused levels.
Along the way, players will confront distinct bosses and tricky enemies, navigate dangerous traps, and survive hazards that veer from intense to comedic.
